An inexpensive and perfect way to be green. These UPCYCLE RAIN BARRELS are repurposed food grade poly ethylene 50 – 55 gal. barrels. Available in black, gray, terra cotta, brown and blue. These are our favorite – solid oak wine barrels repurposed into wonderful rain barrels. Features include brass hose connection, mesh debris screen and overflow valve. Multiple barrels can be connected together. Now this is a classy rain barrel. www.barreldepot.com $329.99
How much rain can I collect? As a general rule for every 1″ of rain that falls on a 1,000 square foot area, such as your roof, you can expect about 600 gallons of runoff. Link multiple barrels to increase storage !!
DECKING
Lumberock : Brian has completed factory training and is a Medallion Contractor for Lumberock premium decking.
Lumberock uses certified post – consumer plastic materials to manufacture its product. Lumberock is made from the milk cartons you recycle. It is extremely environmentally friendly using 75% post comsumer plastic materials. There are 27 recycled milk cartons in every foot of 5/4x 6″ decking. I don’t know of any other decking product that is this ‘green’.
They have railing systems, tongue & groove porch flooring and 2 x 6 for docks as well as the standard deck choices. We can use Lumberock products to make you a low maintenance, custom trellis or arbor. Many colors and profiles are available to fit just about any use. It will never rot, crack, splinter or stain and is impervious to mold, mildew and bacteria. An occasional washing with standard household cleaners will keep it looking great. As an added benefit it is manufactured locally in Elgin, IL.
